Most Anticipated Releases of the Second Half of 2020

Hello everyone! Two posts in a week after not hearing from me for nearly two years, I’m on a roll and really getting back into the swing of blogging! So, I couldn’t re-start my blog without also participating in one of my favourite bookish memes now could I? Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. I have to admit, my reading this year so far has been poor. I’ve not been keeping up to date with new releases and I’ve read very few YA books this year! I have read quite a few urban fantasy/romance adult books, but again, I don’t really keep up to date with what’s due to be released in those genres either. So, while I am definitely excited about these releases, I’m not sure if they’re my ‘most anticipated’ and, well… there isn’t quite 10 books in this list. Anyway, here we go…

Midnight Sun – Stephenie Meyer

Okay. Yes some say Edward is a stalker, some even say Edward is a Tamlin, and while I haven’t read these books in a lot of years and my teenage self definitely would not agree with you, I am looking forward to seeing how I perceive Edward as an adult. And honestly? My teenage self would never forgive me if I don’t read this book, and I’m not ashamed to admit that adult me is also kind of excited to finally get in Edward’s head!

Blood & Honey – Shelby Mahurin

I am very excited for Blood & Honey. After devouring and loving Serpent & Dove I can wholeheartedly say that this is a book I am looking forward to!

Set Fire to the Gods – Sara Raasch & Kristen Simmons

Gods… Gladiators… Arenas… Battles… War… A kick ass woman… And (hopefully) romance. WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE! Plus Ash is giving me HUGE Kassandra (Assassins Creed: Odyssey) vibes and I AM HERE FOR THAT! I hope this one is good. Please book Gods, please let this one be amazing!

Girl, Serpent, Thorn – Melissa Bashardoust

Alright, first let’s talk about that stunning cover, it’s so pretty I kinda just want to buy it to look at it and take photos, seriously. Now, I’m not usually a fan of the poisonous touch/kiss trope at all, I steer clear of those because they usually just don’t work for me but, Girl, Serpent, Thorn has great reviews and sounds so good!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

I will read pretty much anything Schwab writes. I have not read a book of hers that I didn’t love and I just know I’ll love this one too (fingers crossed). But that isn’t the only reason this book is on my radar, Addie LaRue’s story also sounds incredible! There is so much hype for this book that I’m actually a little scared!

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin – Roseanna A. Brown

There are mixed reviews for this book but I’m still very much looking forward to reading it. I’m hoping for a dark, gritty, read with a backstabbing romance and tons of twists please!

A Sky Beyond the Storm – Sabaa Tahir

So I am a little behind on this series, I think I’ve read 2/4 with this being the fourth book to be released. My plan was (and still is), to re-read books 1 and 2 and then read book 3 before this one is released at the end of the year. I have time so I’m not too worried but this is absolutely a series I’m looking forward to completing and discovering how it will all end. I am SO annoyed that they decided to change these covers halfway through the series and not bring the new UK editions out in hardback for books 1 & 2, like why? So now I’m stuck with either books 1 & 2 in the old style and 3 & 4 in the new style or I buy all the books again in the US style… Just let me buy books 1 & 2 in the new UK edition! I like the newer designs and am 100% on board with the rep, it’s glorious, it just means buying a whole new collection if I want matching covers. (Which I wouldn’t actually mind if they released 1 & 2 in the new hardback UK editions). Ugh. End rant.

Are any of these on your most anticipated books for 2020, or the second half at least? Have you been lucky enough to maybe read an ARC of one of these beauties? What’d you think? Let me know lovelies!

  1. My teenage self is incredibly excited about Midnight Sun and I’m not going to lie, so is the older me too. I preordered as soon as I heard about it. Can’t wait for Blood and Honey either!

  2. It’s not a highly anticipated release of mine but I won’t deny I’ve pre-ordered a copy of Midnight Sun. I was quite a big Twilight fan back in the day and I would have done everything for this to exist in its entirety at the time so it felt like I had to make the order when it was announced. I don’t know if I’d be tempted to re-read the series in anticipation for Midnight Sun, but if I do and I don’t like it as much, then Midnight Sun will be a nice rounded end to my relationship with the series.
